been quiet

i know it's been an awfully long time since i last blogged. i didnt want to just blog abt what i bought/cooked/ate everyday - i've decided to blog when i really have some thoughts..

hmm...firstly, ever since i signed the acceptance letter for this TAP, i've always had this question uppermost in my mind: will i have a job at sa*sl after 18 mths? now i'm in a new environment and am surrounded by fellow TAP trainees almost all the time. i've been telling myself to not see them as competitors, but it's very hard, esp when it's like 99% confirmed 2 pple out of 9 will not be employed. the only other female is almost a confirm employment, and she is very pal with all the engineering heads....supposedly partly coz of her twin assets n she can speak cantonese with them. i cant help but make a comparison. if the crunch comes down to choosing between the 2 females, IMO she will be chosen.

and then there is the guy whom i worked with in sg for 9 mths and who is my housemate now. he has been in contact with pple from at least 2 depts (one is engg) who i didnt know he was particularly close with. i've always felt that he is a better worker and can get along well with the technicians. and now that he's still in contact with the company pple even while in derby, i feel even worse.

yes, even though these 2 pple are employed, it doesnt mean i wont get employment. and the company looks set to grow so i really shouldnt be worrying. but i cant get rid of such thoughts. they are like a stubborn weed root which grows into a full size plant when u thought u had gotten rid of it.

next: relationships matters. not the bgr kind....sorry to disappoint.
there is a sa*sl perm staff here for approval-holder training. back in sg, pple always paint a bad picture of him behind his back, and pretend to be his buddies in his face. over here, he's quite close with almost everyone (tap) and they even go on trips together. i find that perplexing. is he a gd guy or a bad guy? is everyone pretending to like him when they actually dont? if pple are like dat, surely i would need to beef up my defence wall agst them as well.

argh...just rants that are likely to recur over the next 8 mths.

aiyah

aiyah..i wrote a nice long mail abt lotsa stuff but i lost it! =(

want to say that although the working hours and travelling times are shorter here, i dont really seem to have as much free time as predicted. maybe that's coz i spend a lot of time cooking and cleaning up. everyday after work, will stop by the supermarket and buy groceries. can't buy too much and stock up for the whole week or something coz the fridge is too small (think of a kitchen cabinet) for 4 pple. so each person gets one shelf of space. same for the freezer. so we shop, cook and clean up everyday. have to cook dinner and next day's lunch at one shot, coz we dabao lunch to work everyday. (yah, cycling with a full lunch box in my bag...so glam).

(juz realised that the post which i thought i lost was published after all!)

there were many silly things that happened over the past 2 wks, and i cant wait to forget them. there is a megastore called Argos which has an unique sales concept. from internet or from their free book catalogues, u choose the products u want, and u can go to the store to write down your orders on Argos-printed slips of paper. much like buying 4D! each product has a serial number, so just write down the numbers then go and pay.
i was buying a few bed-stuff like duvet, pillow, bedsheets and pillow cases etc. paid up and collected my stuff and left. when i got home, i realised that i have bought the wrong size for my bedsheets. my bed is a queen size but i got a single-sized bedsheet set. thank god the rest were of the right size. i folded back the wrong one and slept in my sleeping bag for 2 nights. one of the trainees who was going back to singapore left me two right-sized bedsheets and i have been using them.
i eventually went back to Argos during the weekend and asked for a refund. i have quoted the wrong product number, and expected a lot of hassle in getting a refund or even an exchange. but the staff there just looked at my bedsheets and turned to her colleague and said, "can we sell this?" the colleague said no problem. i promptly received the full refund. yeahhhh!!! this will most prob not happen in sg...

no time

i thought with shorter working hours and shorter (but more tiring) travelling times, i would have more free time to do things like blog or watch tv or sleep. but no leh....large chunks of my time everyday is spent on grocery shopping and cooking and washing! ughhhh
i shall soon adopt my housemates' way of cooking. they cook once or twice a wk, enough for 2 meals a day. so instead of cooking everyday, can reduce the number of times. now i cook every night for dinner and the next day's lunch. (have to dabao my own food there...)

here are some pics finally! actually i havent really taken many pics, coz there isnt much to take pic of. i want to show my company and the city centre, but i always forget to bring my camera when i go out.
